Bridlington U3A

Amateur Radio Foundation Licence

Would you like to learn to operate and talk on a radio to other uses all round the world? I have been licensed since 1998 and now have a full operating licence. The first step to a full licence is the Foundation Licence. This will allow you operate, at low power, on VHF and HF bands. The next licence the Intermediate, gives you a bit more power on these bands, and the Full licence gives you full power. As a foundation licence holder you can help in many situations where radio contact is vital, such as not only horse endurance events but the Hull floods, and in Scotland radio users were used to coordinate rescues in the bad weather. Ham radio was also used in the HAITI earthquake.
