Bridlington U3A Mission Statement Coming together in friendship to find joy and renewal in recreation, learning and teaching, through a vibrant, effective and inclusive local U3A supported by a community of dedicated volunteers Bridlington U3A - Reading Group The aim of the reading group is to introduce readers to new authors and different genres. Each member of the group takes it in turn to choose a theme, an author or a genre and then the group leader produces a reading list of between six and a dozen titles. Members read one book from the list and then report back to the group one month later explaining briefly what their chosen book was about and what they thought of it. So far we have looked at humorous novels, thrillers, fantasy novels, time travel, biographies and autobiographies, novels by authors not born in Britain, first novels, and authors Jodi Piccoult, Margaret Atwood, Annie Proux and Anne Tyler. We have had one meeting studying poetry and at Christmas time we have a light-hearted reading of a script; last Christmas we read an episode of Only Fools and Horses together and this Christmas the group are preparing to perform an instalment of Blackadder.
